It's Spring

After the weird weather of winter, we are now having even stranger weather for spring.  At the start of March all of our snow had almost melted.

My driveway at 9:00 a.m. on March 4
Mom had visions of her garden in her head and thinking about maybe starting some plants and then it started to snow.

My driveway at 9:00 a.m. on March 5

It snowed and snowed and snowed that weekend.
At 5:00 p.m. on March 5 we had close to 5 inches of snow
Eventually we got a total of 6.6 inches of snow and then we had high winds for the next two days.  Mom would call it a blizzard, but the wind wasn't high enough to be called a blizzard!  Go figure.

The wind was blowing so much that even I didn't want to be outside!
Quickly doing my business and running for home!

Now, once again, the snow is nearly all melted and I am starting to find treasures that had been buried in the snow.
Neighbor's driveway turning into a swimming pool.  March 17.
Even my river is thawing!
Can you believe that some people were still driving over this river when it looks like this?
Yeah, with all the melting we should be able to start doing stuff in the yard soon.  Mom has started some  herbs and will be starting some other plants shortly.

Hopefully with the warmer weather, all the nasty bugs going around will be gone soon.  Mom had to go see her vet, er, doctor, last week for a bad sinus infection.  My grammy's care home has been in outbreak mode for well over a month now.  Paws crossed the quarantine status will be lifted soon!

Oh, I forgot to tell you about the treasures I have been finding with the snow melting.  I presented the momma with a most wonderful dead muskrat on the weekend.  Was she appreciative, was she thrilled with my present?  She screamed and kept telling me to drop it!  I was having  none of that and was trying to swallow the thing.  Then dad runs out of the house and with mom holding me, he took the muskrat out of my mouth with his bare hands.  He then handed the muskrat to mom and hung onto me while mom disposed of the critter.  I'm a little bummed by that.  I thought it was the most perfect gift ever.

Hoping all my pals are also enjoying good spring weather.

Until next time!
The end (or my end, BOL!)

  3. OMD Buddy, sounds like you were having a great time with the muskrat until you weren't! LOL!
Hope all the nasty bugs will be gone soon and they will lift the quarantine at the care home. I've had a nasty sinus infection along with an ear infection so I know how your mom feels. Hope all will be better with Spring in the air! We had a little snow last night but in the mid 60's tomorrow so it won't be here long!

Happy Spring to you & yours!

    1. We hope you feel better soon. Those sinus infections are no fun! Mom is finally starting to feel better and she has a few more days of antibiotics left. Have a wonderful spring!

  4. It sure has been a strange winter! You never know what the weather will be doing from hour to hour. Wow! I'd love to find a dead muskrat! I'm sure my humans would act the same way as your's though.

  5. Yuck on the muskrat! Yeah with summer we get to trade one kind of bug for another, but at least it is warm out. :)

  6. I had a prize kill (A young coon), that I did all by myself stolen from me once. Sheesh. Peeps sure are weird about those glorious things we carry to them aren't they?

Hope by now all the sicknesses are gone so that soon you can enjoy the new season of Spring!

(You might want to try a Seresto collar, they are supposed to be the best for fleas and ticks.)
