It's Spring

After the weird weather of winter, we are now having even stranger weather for spring.  At the start of March all of our snow had almost melted.

My driveway at 9:00 a.m. on March 4
Mom had visions of her garden in her head and thinking about maybe starting some plants and then it started to snow.

My driveway at 9:00 a.m. on March 5

It snowed and snowed and snowed that weekend.
At 5:00 p.m. on March 5 we had close to 5 inches of snow
Eventually we got a total of 6.6 inches of snow and then we had high winds for the next two days.  Mom would call it a blizzard, but the wind wasn't high enough to be called a blizzard!  Go figure.

The wind was blowing so much that even I didn't want to be outside!
Quickly doing my business and running for home!

Now, once again, the snow is nearly all melted and I am starting to find treasures that had been buried in the snow.
Neighbor's driveway turning into a swimming pool.  March 17.
Even my river is thawing!
Can you believe that some people were still driving over this river when it looks like this?
Yeah, with all the melting we should be able to start doing stuff in the yard soon.  Mom has started some  herbs and will be starting some other plants shortly.

Hopefully with the warmer weather, all the nasty bugs going around will be gone soon.  Mom had to go see her vet, er, doctor, last week for a bad sinus infection.  My grammy's care home has been in outbreak mode for well over a month now.  Paws crossed the quarantine status will be lifted soon!

Oh, I forgot to tell you about the treasures I have been finding with the snow melting.  I presented the momma with a most wonderful dead muskrat on the weekend.  Was she appreciative, was she thrilled with my present?  She screamed and kept telling me to drop it!  I was having  none of that and was trying to swallow the thing.  Then dad runs out of the house and with mom holding me, he took the muskrat out of my mouth with his bare hands.  He then handed the muskrat to mom and hung onto me while mom disposed of the critter.  I'm a little bummed by that.  I thought it was the most perfect gift ever.

Hoping all my pals are also enjoying good spring weather.

Until next time!
The end (or my end, BOL!)

Evil Nemesis - The Struggle Continues

A couple days I am out for a walk with the momma and this guy starts annoying me.
Evil Nemesis!
After I chased him for a while, the momma called me and we went into the house.  When we came back out in the evening, he was gone, but there was another beautiful sunset.
Saskatchewan - Land of Living Skies
Yesterday while out for my walk, I encountered that pest again.
First I tried to crawl up the outside of the willow
That didn't work, so then I changed tactics.
Climbing up the inside of the willow
Sadly, that was also futile!
Come down here you varmint!
Now for my Public Service Announcement.  Be careful trying to climb trees you pups!  A few weeks ago, I was after my evil nemesis and I poked my eye on something.  Whether it was a branch or something, mom doesn't know, but what she does know is I ran to her, fell down at her feet and was pawing my eye.  I was also trying to bury that side of my face in the snow and the sun really bothered my eye.  Mom knelt down and looked at my eye and saw that my eye had retracted inward and that my third eye lid was covering my eye.  I was clearly in discomfort.  The momma quickly took me to the emergency vet.  I had a complete eye exam and a scratch was noted on my eye.  I was given antibiotic/pain relief drops for my eye.  I am all better now, but please be careful out there pups!

Until next time everyone!

My Evil Nemesis

Well pups we have gone from being real cold to having temperatures above 0 C all week.

One advantage to the warm weather is that I am able to chase the evil squirrels into all sorts of interesting places.
Evil nemesis!
Now sometimes I just sit and watch  my evil nemesis.
Watching evil nemesis!
But at other times I chase my evil nemesis into all sorts of interesting places.
I know you're in here evil nemesis.
Another day and my evil nemesis thinks he can hide in here

I must say, I am quite enjoying the warmer weather and getting to chase that evil nemesis of mine.

Open water on my river
Of course the warmer weather also means that my river is starting to thaw.  If the warm weather continues, I don't think people will be going across the ice road too much longer.  Unfortunately the warmer weather also means there are still lots of germs going around and my grammy's care home is once again in quarantine due to another respiratory outbreak.   Sigh.  I hope everyone gets healthy soon.

According to the forecast, we should be getting some more snow this weekend and it will be cooler.
Checking out the snow from last weekend's snow
It snowed last weekend and I quite enjoyed running in all that snow.  Due to the warm weather this week, all this snow has turned to ice, so running is a little dangerous right now.

I hope each of you have a wonderful weekend.
A beautiful sunset from last weekend

Yet another sunset from last weekend.  My backyard is beautiful.

Cold February Day

We are under yet another Extreme Windchill Warning today.  We did go for a not too bad walk this morning despite the cold.  Personally, I love the cold, the momma, not so much!

Sunrise on a cold day

Mom has been seeing Sundogs around the sun that last few days, so she knew it would get colder.  No, she didn't get a picture of them this time, but trust me, we saw them!

Hello down there
First I needed to check out what might be under the snow.  I have been catching lots of mice lately.  After I catch them, I make mom open the garden fence and then I bury them in the strawberry patch!

Walk down to the river
We took a walk down to the river and I needed to stop and take in all the pawsome smells down there.

Walking on the frozen river
I decided to take a walk on the river.  Don't worry, it is well frozen.  People are driving across the river in places so the ice is at least 12 inches deep.

With it being so cold, mom likes to stay indoors.  She has been doing some baking, some reading and working on a quilt that she started years ago.
Maybe mom will finish this quilt one of these days

Have a great day all and stay warm!

Happy Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!

First off, thank you to all the pups that sent me Christmas cards.  You know who you are, BOL!  I got more cards than the peeps again this year.  We enjoyed all the Christmas cards and loved seeing all of your smiling faces!

We got to spend some time with my grammy in her care home this Christmas.  It was nice to be with her on Christmas morning and open presents.  Her care home had been in quarantine once again, but thankfully that was lifted right before Christmas.  We hoped everyone would stay healthy after that, but a few days later another respiratory outbreak occurred and they were under quarantine again.  Grammy had a slight cold, but got over that quickly.  Then she got an enteric flu and was quarantined for a couple days.  The restrictions have once again been lifted and we hope everyone stays healthy at my grammy's care home.

We have had some very strange weather.  It has been very cold and we were under several extreme windchill warnings for a few days.  The momma, of course, overreacted and made me dress up like this when we went outside.
I think my look says it all about this outfit!
Two weeks ago, with windchill, we had temperatures of -45 C.  Last week, we had temperatures of +3 C.  Last night it was pouring rain at 1:30 in the morning.  Now it is supposed to cool down again.  Unlike my pal, Zoe, we have very little snow here this year.  Stay warm and safe to all my pals!

As usually we have had some beautiful sunrises.
Sunrise on a beautiful winter morning.

On nice days, I am keeping busy by getting in lots of running.
Running like the wind on a beautiful morning.
Keeping an eye on my river.
And I have been doing lots of bird watching
I also keep a close eye on the horses next door
Well it is a grey and cloudy day and very icy out there today due to all the rain overnight, so I will have to be careful running today.  Take care everyone and have a pawsome day!
